Job summary

Intermountain Healthcare Inc. is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee vendor relationships, inventory control, and purchasing in support of surgical and patient care operations.

You will ensure timely availability of supplies, manage COUPA-based inventory processes, and coordinate daily receiving, distribution, and backup supplier setups. The role requires strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, plus experience in hospital supply chain and ability to work with clinical

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's in operations management, business, or another related field preferred.
  • Three years' experience as Materials Manager for a hospital, surgery center or high-volume physician's office.
  • Excellent organizational, written, computer, and verbal communication skills; client-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily inventories and all processes related to receiving and distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinate daily departmental operations including distribution, inventory, equipment and record keeping of supplies and services.
  • Ensure proper authority is obtained for all orders.
  • Verify orders against packing slips and purchase orders for accuracy; scan into COUPA or the facility's electronic inventory system.
  • Aid surgery staff in preparing supplies for next-day cases.
  • Ensure patient care areas are stocked to par levels.
  • Enforce tag-out/lockout policy for equipment and arrange repairs.
  • Direct development and maintenance of supplier substitution materials.
  • Negotiate vendor agreements for best price and terms; build good relationships with key suppliers.
  • Place, expedite and close all purchase orders; review annually for price, quality, delivery.
  • Manage backups for all items bought; track supplier performance (Quality, Delivery, Price).
  • Work with clinical areas to support correct inventory levels for stock items.
  • Manage shipping and receiving to ensure accuracy of inventory transactions; follow company policies.
  • Perform job according to injury prevention program; travel as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
