Job summary

Cantex is seeking a Cook / Assistant Chef to prepare and serve patient meals in a healthcare setting. You will follow approved menus, ensure dietary compliance, and maintain safety and sanitation throughout meal preparation and service.

Responsibilities include labeling and storing food, reducing waste, and supporting dietary regimes. Experience in healthcare food service and a state Food Manager Certificate are preferred.

Qualifications

• Food safety knowledge required in healthcare settings.
• Experience with sanitary food preparation and portion control.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or directs preparation of food items according to assigned menus and schedules.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, utensils, and preparation areas.
• Ensures compliance with dietary, nutrition and healthcare food service standards.
• Labels, dates, and stores food items and leftovers properly.
• Monitors food service timelines and minimizes waste.
• Supports therapeutic diet compliance and accurate meal service.
• Assists in training and supervising nutrition services staff when assigned.
