Job summary

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System is seeking an HR professional focused on employee and labor relations. You will develop policies, train staff, and advise hospital leadership on labor relations issues.

The role requires a Master’s degree in HR or related field with several years of HR experience, preferably in healthcare, and will involve ensuring compliance with laws and the collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations or related field and two years of professional Human Resources experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations or related field and four years of professional Human Resources experience required.
• Experience with an emphasis in employee and/or labor relations.
• Recent work experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains policies, programs, and training focused on employee/labor relations.
• Advises hospital management on employee and labor relations issues.
• Interprets and educates to ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreement.
• Educates hospital staff and management on policy, laws, and nondiscriminatory practices.
• Investigates employee issues and provides guidance to management.
• Assists in grievance procedures and disciplinary actions.
• Prepares and maintains the employee handbook; updates HR policies as needed.
• Serves as HR representative on the Harassment Committee.
• Participates in grievance meetings.
• Protects the interests of employees and the organization per policies and laws.
