Job summary

Highmark Health invites applications for the Summer 2027 Data Science Research & Development (DSRD) Graduate Internship. The program allows graduate students to apply advanced data science, ML/AI, and software engineering to clinical and health insurance data, solving real-world healthcare challenges.

Interns collaborate with researchers, data scientists, ML engineers, and software developers across four tracks: Knowledge Graphs, Medical Imaging, Predictive Modeling, and AI Applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Pursuit of a graduate degree (MS/PhD) preferred.
• Strong programming experience in Python.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with team and stakeholders.
• Work under supervision on data science projects.
• Participate in design and evaluation of models and experiments.
• Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, and engineers.
• Contribute to healthcare data science solutions and reports.
• Follow HIPAA and privacy guidelines in handling data.
• Assist with dissemination of results to technical and business audiences.
