Job summary

Highmark Health offers the Summer 2027 Data Science Research & Development (DSRD) Graduate Internship for graduate students to apply advanced data science, ML, AI, and software engineering to healthcare challenges.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, interns will work on knowledge graphs, medical imaging, predictive modeling, and AI applications, gaining hands-on experience with clinical data, graph technologies, and enterprise-scale analytics as they contribute to impactful research projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree completed or currently pursuing graduate studies.
• Pursuing a graduate degree full or part-time in an accredited program.
• Strong programming in Python and experience with data science libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with team and stakeholders on research progress.
• Support day-to-day project work under supervision and mentorship.
• Participate in projects to develop professional skills in data science and analytics.
• Contribute to planning and implementation of unit projects within area of expertise.
• Conduct research and produce actionable recommendations for action.
• Engage in enrichment programs to grow technical capabilities.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
