Job summary

Preferred Care At Absecon is seeking a Cook to join our healthcare team in Absecon, NJ. The cook will prepare and serve food including texture-modified and therapeutic diets according to the facility menu, while ensuring quality service and adherence to safety standards.

The role requires reading and following directions, teamwork, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Training and ongoing development opportunities are provided to support professional growth.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, speak and understand English; follow directions and complete tasks.
• Must be dependable and able to work in quantity food production.
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Knowledge of nutrition and food safety/sanitation procedures.
• Willingness to assist dietary aides and direct others as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food including texture modified and therapeutic diets.
• Ensure proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation and cleaning procedures.
• Assist in maintaining policies and procedures and support the Dining Services Director.
• Be detail-oriented, well-groomed and a team player.
