Job summary

Holmes Lake Rehabilitation & Care Center in Lincoln, NE is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents in a clinical kitchen environment. You will follow dietary guidelines, assist with special diets, and work with the dietary team to deliver quality meals.

The role requires experience in healthcare or institutional kitchens, strong food safety practices, and the ability to work collaboratively with residents and staff. Shifts include 6:30AM–2:30PM and 12:00PM–8:00PM.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; culinary certification or degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Communications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; work collaboratively with a diverse team.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and transfer residents as needed, and to perform tasks that require physical stamina.

Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to planned menus and dietary guidelines.
• Menu Adherence: Follow standardized recipes and portion control procedures to ensure consistency and quality.
• Kitchen Safety: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen in compliance with health regulations.
• Resident Needs: Adjust recipes to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences.
• Inventory Management: Assist in ordering and stocking food supplies; monitor inventory levels.
• Collaboration: Work with dietary staff and healthcare professionals to plan menus and address resident needs.
• Record Keeping: Maintain records of food temperatures, portion sizes, and dietary modifications as required.
• Training: Participate in ongoing training to stay current with food safety standards and trends.
