Job summary

Cantex is seeking a Cook/Assistant Chef to ensure patient meals are prepared and portioned according to approved menus in a timely manner. The role requires maintaining sanitation, following local, state, and federal guidelines, and supporting Nutrition Services leadership in a healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Current state Food Manager Certificate.
• Experience in quality food preparation and production in long-term care or healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or directs preparation of food items on assigned/scheduled menus.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
• Labels, dates, and stores food items/leftovers after use.
• Plans and prepares special meals and snacks as instructed by Nutrition Services Director.
• Monitors temperatures of food, refrigerators, and freezers; logs temperatures as appropriate.
• May train or supervise Nutrition Services staff as PIE (Partner in Excellence).
• Ensures patient/resident safety and adheres to policies and standards.
