Job summary

Suffolk Construction in San Francisco is seeking a Superintendent, Healthcare to oversee daily on-site activities for a major healthcare project. You will lead field teams, coordinate trades, manage safety and quality controls, and ensure alignment with contract scope and client expectations.

The role requires strong leadership, proactive problem-solving, and effective communication with the Project Manager, clients, and subcontractors to deliver project milestones on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in related construction fields.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, manage, and document all day-to-day job site activities.
• Direct field personnel according to the project plan and Suffolk supervisory principles.
• Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the Project Manager.
• Report any problems promptly to the Project Manager to facilitate cost-effective solutions.
• Establish effective working relationships with clients and Suffolk team members.
• Develop start-up schedule with Project Manager and coordinate with Project Executive and General Superintendent.
• Formulate and implement construction schedules in the field; maintain baseline schedule.
• Update Project Schedule monthly and provide two-week look-ahead reports.
• Ensure subcontractors participate in safety pre-construction meetings and maintain safety plans.
• Review safety reports and injury data to assess performance; ensure budgets and staffing for safety.
• Participate in quality management and ensure inspections align with baseline schedule.
• Manage subcontractor performance to quality and ethical standards.
• Attend and chair safety, schedule, and coordination meetings; participate in project closeout.
