Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Manager to lead the planning, procurement, scheduling, and execution of assigned construction projects. You will drive project profitability, uphold safety standards, and deliver predictable outcomes for owners and teams across healthcare and commercial sectors.

You will manage budgets, prepare estimates, coordinate with the project superintendent, and lead the PMP and pre-construction activities while fostering strong client relationships and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field.
• Preferably at least 5 years experience working in commercial construction.
• Construction experience in healthcare required.
• Understands estimating concepts, contracts, and codes.

Responsibilities

• Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures that “Constructing with Integrity” is delivered by honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Works with Layton’s “Two in the Box” for successful project delivery and client relations.
• Assists in the preparation of estimates for the project and prepares project budget.
• Leads the project team in preparing the PMP and conducts pre-award/pre-construction meetings.
• Participates in value engineering, negotiates subcontracts, and obtains permits as needed.
• Prepares project schedule and milestones in coordination with the project superintendent.
• Controls contract documents and plans the construction execution.
• Manages materials and equipment procurement within budget and schedule.
• Monitors site performance and develops risk management plans with the superintendent.
• Negotiates change orders and manages cost/profit impact.
• Develops monthly client pay requests and follows up on collection.
• Oversees payments with the job cost accountant and participates in project reviews.
• Manages final close-out procedures and as-built documentation.
• Interacts with Estimating to provide cost data for the estimating database.
• Manages client relationships and meetings with the client.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
