Job summary

Impact Advisors seeks an experienced Coding Optimization and Automation Consultant to help healthcare organizations build high-performing coding operations. You will partner with coding, HIM, and revenue cycle leaders to design the operating model, deploy automation, and measure performance, applying Epic and automation technologies to reduce manual work and improve results.

The role requires 7+ years in healthcare coding or HIM, strong CPT/ICD coding knowledge, leadership, and up to 80% travel

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in healthcare coding, HIM, coding operations, revenue integrity, or revenue cycle management.
Experience leading or substantially shaping a coding department or coding operations.
Hospital and professional coding experience with strong CPT, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and E/M knowledge.
Proven experience using technology or automation to improve coding processes.
Hands-on experience building or optimizing coding QA programs, education, and productivity standards.
Experience optimizing coding workflows in Epic, including workqueues and routing rules.

Responsibilities

Assess and redesign coding department structure, roles, and work allocation for efficient operations.
Identify and implement automation opportunities, including Epic coding functionality and AI-enabled tools.
Partner with Epic IT teams to align Epic workflows with operational processes.
Build or optimize coding QA programs, including audit approaches and corrective actions.
Develop coder onboarding, ongoing education, and scalable provider education.
Establish coding KPIs and reporting for productivity, backlog, DNFB, and turnaround time.
Serve as a trusted advisor to client coding and revenue cycle leaders, leading workstreams and communicating progress.
