Qualifications

  • Two years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience.
  • Active AHIMA or AAPC credential.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS.
  • Ability to code at 95% quality while meeting standards.
  • Proficient MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Select and sequence ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS codes for designated patient types.
  • Review and analyze facility records to ensure accurate APC assignments.
  • Abstract clinical data to support diagnoses and procedures.
  • Utilize resources and assist client staff for data integrity and compliant coding practices.
  • Maintain patient and provider confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
  • Participate in meetings and trainings as requested.
  • Stay current with ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines and relevant regulations.
