Job summary

Mercy Health’s St. Joseph Warren Hospital seeks a Chaplain I in Pastoral Care to serve patients, families and staff by addressing religious and spiritual needs as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Under the direction of the Director of Mission or Director of Spiritual Care, the chaplain provides spiritual support, compassionate presence, and crisis counseling, with 24/7 on-call including holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Completion of one CPE within first year (required).
• One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) completed (preferred).
• Experience as a Chaplain in a healthcare setting (preferred).
• Documentation of faith community endorsement reflecting good standing (required).

Responsibilities

• Recognizes sacramental needs of the Catholic population.
• Provide religious and ritual needs of diverse faith groups.
• Minister to a diverse population with emotional and spiritual support.
• Provide pastoral presence with active listening and calm communication.
• Provide spiritual support to end-of-life and crisis situations.
• 24/7 on-call with holidays/weekends.
