Job summary

Mercy Health’s The Jewish Hospital seeks a Chaplain I to minister to patients, families, and staff, delivering compassionate spiritual care within illness, crisis and loss while upholding the organization’s values of compassion, dignity and service.

Under supervision of the Director of Mission, you will provide multi-faith pastoral care, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, and respond to spiritual needs 24/7, including during holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in religious/theological studies
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred
• Complete 1 unit of CPE within the first year of employment

Responsibilities

• Minister to patients, families and staff around religious and spiritual needs
• Provide spiritual care and emotional support within illness, crisis, loss and death
• Provide pastoral presence with active listening and calm communication
• Offer spiritual support in end-of-life situations and crises (Code Blue, Death, Trauma)
• 24/7 call with expectations for holidays/weekends
