University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Billing and Reimbursement Coordinator to lead the billing and accounts receivable function. This role acts as the department's technical expert in hospital billing and reimbursement, driving accuracy and timely collections.

You will develop and maintain specialized knowledge of payer requirements, HIPAA regulations, and internal controls, training staff and coordinating with other teams to optimize revenue cycle performance and overall patient

Qualificações

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 1–2 years healthcare billing experience preferred.
• Certified Revenue Cycle Representative a plus.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and patient privacy requirements.
• Strong communication and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee accounts receivable for assigned areas and ensure standards set by leadership.
• Develop and maintain expertise in hospital billing and reimbursement; train staff as needed.
• Stay updated on regulatory and payer requirements; ensure compliance and internal controls.
• Maintain quality in billing and follow-up to optimize reimbursement and tracking.
• Review claims daily for accuracy and attachments using electronic billing systems.
• Identify underpayments and work with contracting for resolution.
• Manage daily work queues per payer requirements and handle denials and follow-up.
• Provide staff coaching and supervision; support recruitment and performance evaluations.
• Oversee daily department operations; may require additional hours and cross-team coverage.
