Job summary

Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest is seeking a detail-oriented Collections Associate to support our Billing & Collections Department in San Diego. This role focuses on accurate processing of patient accounts and delivering administrative support in a collaborative healthcare setting.

You will post payments, assist with mail, and help with refunds while maintaining patient confidentiality and adherence to organizational policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Administrative, clerical, billing, collections, or healthcare office experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Process and post payments accurately to patient accounts.
• Assist with lockbox processing and reconciliation activities.
• Prepare and respond to billing and collections correspondence.
• Coordinate and process patient refund requests.
• Manage incoming and outgoing department mail.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to patient accounts.
• Support billing and collections staff with administrative and clerical tasks.
• Assist with special projects and other departmental duties as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and patient confidentiality requirements.
