Job summary

Nicollet County Health and Human Services seeks a fiscal specialist to support billing, accounting, and revenue processes under the Fiscal Supervisor. The role focuses on accurate MA/MCO billings, financial reporting, and compliance to ensure effective service delivery.

Responsibilities include reconciling claims, training staff on billing procedures, performing accounts receivable tasks, preparing financial data and grant reports, and providing back-up support for essential fiscal functions

Qualifications

• Associates Degree required; 1–3 years experience or equivalent.
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger reporting.
• Familiarity with billing regulations and DHS/MCO guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, analyze, submit, and reconcile MA and MCO billings across programs.
• Provide training and support to HHS staff on billing procedures.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and ensure timely claim resubmission.
• Process charges and assign chart of accounts; initiate batches.
• Perform accounts receivable functions and balance cash receipts.
• Prepare financial reports and grant reports; support budgeting.
• Reconcile time records and billable claims; verify client billing activity.
• Conduct research and statistical reporting to support planning and compliance.
• Provide back-up for essential fiscal staff functions.
