Job summary

Norway Health Center in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Billing Specialist/Administrator to oversee medical billing operations and support payroll processing for our behavioral health clinic. This role ensures accurate reimbursements and compliant payroll activities while coordinating with the Clinic Administrator and leadership.

Candidates should have knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, Medicare/Medicaid, and a solid grasp of Excel, HRIS, and EHR systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding and medical billing regulations.
• Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance policies.
• Understanding of basic accounting and payroll principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, HRIS software, and EHR systems.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive financial and employee information with confidentiality.
• Detail-oriented with strong accuracy.
• Must be able to commute reliably to Saint Paul, MN 55130 or plan to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Billing & Accounts Receivable: review claim errors, resolve denials, manage aging AR.
• Process refunds for patient and insurance overpayments and verify insurance data.
• Handle patient inquiries regarding billing and claims; document in EMR.
• Collaborate on financial reporting and aging analysis with leadership.
• Payroll Processing & Administrative Support: process biweekly payroll and review timesheets.
• Maintain payroll records, PTO, holidays, overtime, and W-2 coordination.
• Support onboarding payroll setup and year-end payroll tasks.
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and provide admin support.
