Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking an experienced Medical Billing/AR Specialist to manage payer follow-up and ensure timely payments. The role requires strong knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding and effective communication with payers and internal teams.

The candidate will support monthly AR analysis, track KPIs, and train junior staff while maintaining accurate billing records in Word and Excel. On-site Maryland position with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years experience in medical billing/collection.
• One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

Responsibilities

• Follow up with payers to ensure timely payments.
• Prepare monthly accounts receivable analysis.
• Meet KPIs for aging A/R and cash collections.
• Provide training to staff as requested.
• Distribute and monitor AR follow-up workflow.
• Submit claims and appeals timely per payer specifications.
• Communicate billing issues to management.
• Enter comments and document workflow in billing system.
