Job summary

OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team seeks an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer to own end-to-end deployments of AI models within healthcare organizations, including payers, providers, and health systems. You will lead discovery, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, and handoff, translating complex workflows and regulatory constraints into production AI systems.

Qualifications

6+ years of software engineering, ML/AI engineering, or technical consulting experience.
Experience as a senior engineer, tech lead, or deployment owner in complex environments.
Hands-on experience from discovery to production deployment and handoff for enterprise systems.
Healthcare domain experience including payer/provider/EHR interoperability is a plus.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end deployment solutions for customer environments.
Translate payer/provider workflows into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
Design production AI applications and integrate with customer infrastructure and APIs.
Build with safeguards for PHI, HIPAA, privacy, security, and governance.
Define evaluations, validation evidence, and launch criteria for customer success.
Improve system reliability and performance using feedback and observability.
Create reusable architectures and patterns for regulated healthcare environments.
