Job summary

Ascertain is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to own customer deployments in healthcare AI. You will map workflows, build integrations to connect Ascertain's agents with EHRs, payer portals, and practice systems, and ship production-ready solutions.

You will work closely with billers, coordinators, and clinical staff, translating needs into code, designing prompts, and ensuring reliable operation in live environments. Occasional travel is required as you embed with customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping production code in a commercial engineering role.
• Fluent in Python.
• Proficient with SQL, REST APIs, and at least one full-stack or front-end framework.
• A track record of delivering in environments where the problem was not fully specified.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to lead technical discussions and produce specs.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Embed with customer practices, remotely and on-site, mapping workflows end to end.
• Build and own integrations connecting Ascertain's agents to customer systems (EHR APIs, payer portals, EDI).
• Configure and extend the agent platform for each customer—ontology, prompts, tools, guardrails.
• Debug production issues across data, prompts, APIs, UI, and workflows.
• Serve as the technical voice in customer conversations; translate clinical language to engineering terms.
• Surface learnings to product/platform teams to create reusable patterns.
