Job summary

City of Syracuse invites applications for a Health and Wellness Program Supervisor within the Parks and Recreation department. You will plan, organize, supervise and train staff across multiple facilities, leading groups in fitness, yoga and health education activities.

You will manage budgets, order supplies, evaluate programs and ensure safety procedures while developing engaging, accessible health initiatives for diverse community groups in municipal settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health education, wellness, kinesiology, exercise science, or related field.
• Bachelor's in recreation or physical education with fitness/health specialization.
• Any field + two years' experience planning and teaching group exercise, wellness programs or health education sessions.
• AED/CPR certification (valid).
• Certification from ACSM, NSCA or ACE.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, supervise and lead health and wellness programming.
• Promote healthy living concepts within Parks and Recreation.
• Assess programming needs and develop class ideas and work plans.
• Train and evaluate instructors, review class designs and safety procedures.
• Supervise health and wellness staff and instructors.
• Teach health and wellness classes and manage materials and equipment.
• Prepare requisitions, inventory lists and write weekly/monthly reports.
