Job summary

MercyOne is hiring a Health Unit Coordinator to support nursing units with clerical duties that enable smooth patient care and coordination. You will greet patients, answer calls, relay messages, and assist in-patient care delivery under supervision.

You will work 32 hours per week (Full time 0.8 FTE), with a day shift from 7:00am–3:30pm and alternating Mondays and Fridays off. MercyOne offers a full benefits package and growth opportunities within the MercyOne Health System.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to read, write and understand English and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians.
• Typing with knowledge of medical terminology; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• High language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability.

Responsibilities

• Acts as receptionist and assists in-patient care delivery when appropriate.
• Answers telephone calls promptly and politely and answers questions as appropriate.
• Ensures that accurate messages reach appropriate parties.
• Maintains knowledge of and efficiently uses computer applications of assigned nursing units.
