Essentia Health’s St Josephs Medical Center seeks a Health Unit Coordinator to manage non-nursing functions, improve workflow, and support patients, families, visitors, and staff.

The role focuses on clerical and reception tasks, scheduling support, and observation of telemetry when needed. CPR (BLS) certification is required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• No educational requirement.
• CPR (BLS) certification required or must obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Experience as health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement non-nursing functions of assigned unit(s) to improve workflow.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Perform clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed; assist with scheduling.
• Observe telemetry monitor when indicated and notify patient’s caregiver of any changes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

This position plans, organizes, and implements the non-nursing functions of assigned unit(s) to facilitate workflow, enhance unit productivity, and provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff. Position promotes efficient unit function and indirect resident care. Performs clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed; assist with scheduling; may be assigned to observe telemetry monitor when indicated notifying patient’s caregiver of any changes; and other duties as assigned.
Preferred candidates will have experience or training in a hospital or clinic setting as a health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist.
