Job summary

BMCC, a CUNY college in downtown Manhattan, seeks an Academic Advisor within the BMCC Learning Academy to guide students in health-related majors through advisement, seminars, and progress tracking.

The role reports to the BMCC Learning Academy Director, supports degree progress using CUNY technologies, and partners with Admissions, Registrar and student support services to promote retention and success. Evening hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Education, Counseling, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide cohort-based academic advisement for health-related majors.
• Conduct weekly seminars/workshops on transitioning to college, career skill-building, and transfer.
• Monitor student progress and refer to support services as needed.
• Maintain student files, databases and records.
• Monitor Early Alert system and respond.
• Prepare cohort enrollment and retention reports.
• Collaborate with Admissions, Registrar and Enrollment Management on recruitment/retention projects.
• Coordinate with tutoring, mentoring, counseling and financial aid services.
• Occasionally available for evening hours.
