BMCC Learning Academy seeks an Academic Advisor to provide cohort-based advisement for health-related majors and support degree progress.

You'll conduct weekly seminars, monitor progress, and collaborate with Admissions, Registrar, and campus resources to promote student success. Evening hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in related field (Social Science, Education, Counseling, or similar).
• Experience advising pre-health/health majors, preferably in a community college setting.
• Experience with cohort model programs and special initiatives.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Outlook; comfortable with new technology.

Responsibilities

• Cohort-based academic advisement and case load management for health-related majors.
• Conduct weekly seminars/workshops on college transition, career skills, and transfer prep.
• Monitor academic progress and refer students to support services as needed.
• Provide ongoing student academic support and maintain files/records.
• Monitor Early Alert system and prepare cohort enrollment/retention reports.
• Collaborate with Admissions, Registrar and Enrollment Management on recruitment and retention projects.
• Coordinate with student support services (tutoring, mentoring, counseling, career services, financial aid).
• Be available for some evening hours.
