Job description

Health & Safety Program Manager

The Health & Safety Program Manager is responsible for managing system safety programs and chemical compliance processes to ensure a safe and compliant operational environment. This role drives significant impact by developing standards, automating approvals, and maintaining critical safety programs.

This position reports to the Director of EHS, is part of a multi‑site EHS Team, and will be an on‑site role at one of the IDT or Aldevron locations (Coralville, IA; Boulder, CO; Raleigh, NC; Madison, WI; San Diego, CA; or Fargo, ND).

Responsibilities
  • Ensure Occupational Health & Safety performance through the development, implementation, management and collaboration of health and safety programs across US and international sites.
  • Drive critical occupational health & safety programs such as Injury/Illness Reporting & Investigation, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Control of Hazardous Energy, Chemical Handling & Storage, Biological Safety, Fire Prevention, Ergonomics, and more to reduce risks and company costs.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
  • Identify, prioritize, mitigate, and communicate health & safety compliance risks to the organization.
  • Assess and improve safety performance through site assessments and continuous improvement, establishing performance targets, data analysis, and reporting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in health and safety program management (preferably 5+ years).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Strong leadership and excellent communication skills.
Additional Experience (Optional)
  • Experience with ergonomics and industrial hygiene programs.
  • Familiarity with global health and safety audits and compliance tools.
Travel Requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, including overnight stays.
Compensation

The annual salary range for this role is $91,000 – $100,000. This range may be modified in the future and the role is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. The package includes paid time off, medical, dental, vision insurance and a 401(k) plan for eligible employees.
