Job summary

Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) seeks a Senior Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) to lead global EH&S and sustainability initiatives. The role partners with site leadership and global teams to embed safety, environmental stewardship, and well-being into daily operations across multiple manufacturing sites including Fargo, ND.

• Plans, develops, and implements an EH&S and environmental sustainability management strategy, programs, policies and procedures for IDT globally.
• Ensures full compliance with applicable laws, regulations and customer requirements through compliant programs and standard work.
• Leads a global EH&S review process to identify hazards and determine corrective or preventative actions and ensures implementation and results.
• Keeps EH&S team up-to-date with relevant laws and requirements across local areas of responsibility.
• Leads and coordinates audits of IDT globally (e.g., FM Global) and implements countermeasures.
• Serves as IDT Global contact for government agencies and participates in the EH&SOLC.

Senior Director, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S)

is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of global environmental, health, safety, and sustainability programs across Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT). Beyond ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing risk, and addressing EH&S program gaps, this role serves as a key cultural steward, driving a proactive and preventative safety mindset throughout the organization. Through strong indirect leadership and influence, the Senior Director partners with business leaders, site leadership teams, and associates worldwide to build and sustain a high-performance culture where safety, environmental stewardship, and employee well-being are embedded in everyday decision-making and operational excellence. This leader has global responsibility for shaping EH&S and environmental sustainability strategies, aligning standards and practices across diverse geographies, and directing EH&S resources throughout IDT. Success in this role requires the ability to influence without direct authority, inspire organizational commitment to safety and sustainability, and foster accountability at all levels of the business. The scope of responsibility includes Manufacturing Sites (Coralville, IA; San Diego, CA; Raleigh, NC; Boulder, CO; Fargo, ND; Madison, WI; Leuven, Belgium; and Singapore), as well as Regional Sales, Research, Service, and Warehouse facilities worldwide. This position reports to the Vice President, Global Operations and is part of the Operations Department located in Coralville, IA; Raleigh, NC; Boulder, CO; Fargo, ND; or Madison, WI and will be an on-site role and can be based at any of these locations.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Plans, develops, and implements an EH&S and environmental sustainability management strategy, programs, policies and procedures for IDT globally.
• Ensures the company full compliance with applicable laws, regulations and customer requirements through the implementation of compliance programs and standard work for the management and preparation and submission of environmental reports in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
• Leads a global, facility EH&S review process to help management detect accident/health hazards and determine corrective or preventative measures and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented and are producing the desired results.
• Ensures that the EH&S team globally remains up-to-date and conversant with relevant laws, regulations and other statutory requirements that impact EH&S across their local areas of responsibility.
• Leads and coordinates all OpCo, Danaher and external EH&S audits of IDT Globally (e.g. FM Global), develop action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures promptly and effectively.
• Serves as the IDT Global contact for relevant government agencies, the Danaher point of contact for IDT, and the IDT representative on the Danaher EH&S Operations Leadership Council (“EH&SOLC”).
• Provides leadership on EH&S issues, assist IDT top management in understanding business impacts of EH&S issues thereby enabling prudent allocation of resources and decision-making and assist them in identifying and implements corrective measures to improve each site’s EH&S performance against goals.

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include

• Bachelor’s degree required
• An ability to work under own initiative is important as is the ability to prioritize multiple workloads and tasks whilst still meeting timelines.
• The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving the EH&S agenda in a multi-site, global manufacturing organization, and must possess the ability to engage the workforce at all levels in the journey to build a strong EH&S culture and a collaborative team-oriented approach to EH&S management across the business.
• Candidates must have broad EH&S experience, including working-level subject matter expertise, project/process leadership and department or functional area management.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

• Must reside in US with frequent travel to Coralville, relocation to Iowa preferred. Travel 40-50% estimated, including 10% global travel.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in

• EH&S-related licenses, certifications and/or membership in EH&S professional associations
• Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions (due diligence and integration) and risk and liability management is preferred. Must be able to view issues in a systematic and logical way.
• Demonstrated experience leading Business Continuity Planning and supervision of BCP team and activities.

The annual salary range for this role is $170,000- $240,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
