Job summary

Dauch Corporation is seeking an Health and Safety Environmental Lead to oversee the plant’s HSE programs and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. The role partners with the plant team to drive continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance through audits, training and robust data reporting.

Responsibilities include leading investigations, maintaining records, overseeing ISO/OHSAS systems, liaising with regulators, and managing permits and hazardous waste

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety/Engineering or related equivalent.
• 2–5 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of OHSAS / ISO standards and relevant legislation.
• Certification as a Lead Auditor in ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 preferred; certification can be obtained if not currently held.
• Experience with OSHA 30 preferred; union environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of the entire health, safety and environmental programs and processes to ensure compliance with local and state regulations, internal and corporate EHS policies.
• Collaborate with the plant team to develop and implement actions that improve plant health, safety and environmental performance.
• Conduct monthly plant workplace inspections to identify key issues and communicate findings.
• Maintain records of health and safety inspections, investigations, corrective and preventive actions, etc.
• Collect HSE data/statistics and report to internal and external personnel; ensure month end data is collected and inputted into databases.
• Lead accident investigations and root cause analysis on all injuries, property and environmental incidents.
• Ensure corrective actions from incidents, audits, inspections or risk assessments are implemented.
• Create and conduct all required HSE training to employees.
• Oversee OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 as designated Representative; ensure audits and certification maintenance.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and acquire/maintain permits.
• Lead hazardous waste management activities.
• Evaluate injuries/trends and work with plant team to reduce negative impact.
• Lead machine risk assessment processes and follow-up.
• Develop a safety communication strategy to raise awareness.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
