Job summary

DSV Air & Sea Inc. in Belleville, MI is seeking a Health & Safety Assistant to support the Health and Safety Manager by promoting a safety culture, conducting audits, and assisting with training, incident investigations and reporting.

Requires a Bachelor's in OH&S, OSHA 30-hour, 1–2 years safety experience in logistics, and strong communication; MS Office proficiency. This is full-time, at-will with a base pay range of $18.75–$22.00 hourly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health and safety, or related field.
• Completion of safety certification programs such as OSHA 30-hour General Industry or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of experience in a safety-related role in the transportation and logistics industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Health and Safety Manager in developing, implementing and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections and assessments to identify and address safety hazards and risks.
• Assist in investigating safety incidents, accidents and near misses, and prepare reports on findings and recommendations
• Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs to employees.
• Maintain safety records and databases, and prepare safety reports for management.
• Keep up to date with changes in safety regulations, laws and standards, and communicate these changes to management and employees.
