Job summary

HealthPoint is a community-based nonprofit providing access to health insurance and support services. The Health Insurance and Services Navigator I helps patients assess eligibility, complete applications, and educate on insurance and public benefits.

Travel between sites may be required to cover coverage gaps and ensure continuity of care. This role requires strong communication, ability to explain complex information in plain language, and proficient use of enrollment systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a human service field or 1–2 years in health benefits or healthcare financial eligibility screening.
• Ability to explain complex insurance and public benefits clearly to individuals with varying health literacy.
• Ability to navigate multiple eligibility, enrollment, documentation, and reporting systems.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook; comfortable in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with eligibility screening, applications, renewals, and recertifications for Medicaid, QHPs, Medicare Savings Programs, and other programs.
• Explain insurance basics, plan options, responsibilities, and next steps in plain language.
• Complete applications, renewals, and plan changes; contact WHPF, HCA, and other agencies as needed.
• Provide guidance on eligibility for subsidies and financial assistance.
• Translate complex information into actionable guidance for patients.
• Document interactions accurately in approved systems.
