Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Associate to join the Health Information Management (HIM) team. You will ensure that medical records are received, prepared, processed, indexed, and scanned to support patient care and revenue cycle operations.

The role involves handling document imaging, record processing, release of information support, and Epic work queue management to maintain data integrity and timely access to records across the organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to navigate multiple software applications and maintain accurate electronic records.

Responsibilities

• Receive, prepare, scan, and index paper and electronic medical records accurately and efficiently.
• Verify patient and document information before processing records into the electronic health record.
• Ensure records are available in a timely manner to support patient care, coding, billing, and compliance requirements.
• Enter or update missing information as needed to maintain record accuracy.
• Utilize document imaging systems and HIM software to process medical records and perform quality checks.
