Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis seeks a detail-oriented Health Information Technician to support the HIM department. You will process PHI requests, maintain medical records accuracy, and assist with provider documentation and basic chart corrections.

Responsibilities include imaging, scanning, QA, and Epic workflow management to ensure timely, compliant access to patient information and support for coding and billing needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of HIM/medical records or related healthcare experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Process and fulfill PHI requests in compliance with privacy regulations.
• Review records to identify documentation deficiencies and support follow-up.
• Prepare, scan, index, and verify patient records and documents.
• Manage Epic work queues and electronic medical records workflows.
• Perform quality reviews and resolve documentation discrepancies.
• Provide provider and internal stakeholder support on documentation needs.
