Job summary

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (RBHC) seeks a Medical Records Technician within its Health Information Management team. The role enforces security and ensures accessibility of clinical information/records, supporting chart completion and information requests.

On-site, full-time position based in Piscataway, NJ. Requires three years in a healthcare setting and basic computer skills; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Equal opportunity employer; pre-employment screenings apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education and Experience: Three (3) years of experience in a healthcare field is required, preferably in a medical records setting.
• Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Computer experience required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of terminal digit filing processes.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred

Responsibilities

• Processes all releases within five (5) days of receipt.
• Thoroughly reviews and verifies the authenticity of all written requests for patient information from various organizations.
• Responds to Social Security Disability (SSD) requests and sends patient records via the disability portal/fax/mail.
• Interacts with patients and their families, providing accurate and thorough information about the release of information process.
• Performs clerical duties (typing, data entry, photocopying) related to processing releases.
