Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of Health Information Management program (RHIT/RHIA) preferred.
• Computer skills with Microsoft Office preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Texas Driver’s License under clear status with the DMV required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates external payer audits to ensure proper documentation for each account and communicates with departments/providers to meet deadlines.
• Scan and file documents into Cerner; update Paragon notes and Release of Information records; encrypt CDs and share passwords as needed.
• Navigate Paragon notes before releasing records to avoid merged or duplicate accounts.
• Build a weekly Reconciliation Report by coordinating with Business Office to reconcile all received accounts.
• Maintain an audit request log with requester information and ensure documentation completion before mailing requests.
• Contact physician offices to obtain pending documents prior to mailing requests.
• Assist Director/Manager with special projects and ensure confidentiality of patient health information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
