Job summary

Tidewater Community College seeks an instructor for Health Careers – Workforce Development in a non-credit capacity. The role supports health education across multiple offerings and includes evening or weekend course delivery with at least one office hour per week.

Qualifications include healthcare field competency, teaching capability, and relevant certifications (EKG, First Aid/CPR, etc.). Strong tech skills and CANVAS experience are preferred for delivery and assessment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated competency in a relevant health care or professional services field.
• Sufficient technological skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes instructional technology.
• Certification in at least one: EKG, Medical Assistant, First Aid and CPR, or Phlebotomy.
• Ability to design and implement lesson plans that align learning objectives with student outcomes.
• Ability to adapt teaching to diverse community college students to promote knowledge acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for creating a learning environment that facilitates students’ knowledge and skills in a discipline.
• Aligns course activities with student learning outcomes and uses active learning strategies and technology.
• Deliver instruction and assess student learning with timely feedback and evaluations.
• Conduct surveys and analyze instruction evaluations; implement action plans as needed.
• Responsibilities may include teaching day, evening and/or weekend courses; maintain office hours.
