Job summary

Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is offering a Health Care Innovation Operations Internship in Des Moines with a hybrid work arrangement starting May 2027. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in process improvement, compliance, data visualization, and cross-functional collaboration within an agile framework.

As an intern, you will support leaders on small-scale deliverables, assist intelligence research, and help develop actionable insights while building health care business

Qualifications

• Current junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in communication, English, business administration, public health, healthcare management, or related business program.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with various business areas.
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent research, problem solving with the ability to develop proactive solutions and presentation skills.
• Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

What’sHealth Care Innovation (HCI) Operations at Wellmark? The Health Care Innovation Operations team brings together diverse specialists that support initiatives across the division and enterprise. As an intern, you will gain broad exposure while contributing to strategic priorities. You will build valuable skills in process improvement, compliance, audit, legal functions, data visualization, intelligence research and cross-functional collaboration across multiple projects within an agile framework.

What projects might I support? Some examples of the work you may be responsible for during your internship:

This internship will start in May of 2027, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines.
