Job summary

Wellmark is offering a Software Engineer Internship in its Technology Healthcare Innovation division, starting May 2027, with a hybrid schedule from our Des Moines headquarters. Interns will contribute to integration-focused development, learning from experts, and applying AI tools in engineering workflows to deliver customer-focused solutions.

The program seeks current juniors, seniors, or graduates pursuing a relevant degree, with knowledge of NodeJS, AWS, SQL, Python, and operating systems;

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Business Analytics, MIS, or related field.
• Knowledge of developer concepts/tools.
• Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., NodeJS, AWS SNS/SQS/Lamda, SQL, AWS Glue, Python) and operating systems – Windows, Unix.
• Demonstrate proficiency with modern AI tools and incorporate them effectively into engineering workflows and development practices.
• Knowledge and experience with structured and/or object-oriented programming techniques.
• Analytical problem-solving skills. Accuracy and high attention to detail.
• Ability to trouble- shoot and develop creative and efficient technical solutions.
• Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel).
• Excellent writing and communication skills; excellent organizational skills. Strong time management skills and ability to continually prioritize as needed.

This internship will start in May of 2027, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines.
