Job summary

Huntsville Hospital Health System is seeking a Health Care Assistant (HCA) to support a nursing unit under clinicians and staff. Responsibilities include providing technical patient care such as vital signs, ADLs, patient transport, and discharge coordination, along with clerical duties like answering calls, updating charts, and processing charges.

The ideal candidate has HS/GED, BCLS by orientation, and prior patient care and/or clerical experience; CNA or HH HCA coursework is preferred, and

Qualifications

• Education: HS/GED required.
• Education preferred: CNA and/or Huntsville Hospital Health Care Assistant course.
• License/Certification: BCLS required by orientation.
• Experience: Previous patient care and/or two years clerical experience with a successful work history.
• Additional skills: Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide vital signs, activities of daily living, transport, and discharge coordination for patients on the unit.
• Assist staff, physicians, visitors and ancillary departments with routine patient care activities and clerical support as needed.
