Job summary

Huntsville Hospital Health System is seeking a Health Care Assistant (HCA) to support nursing units under physician and clinical staff supervision. The role includes vital signs, activities of daily living, patient transport, and discharge tasks, along with clerical duties to support the unit.

Responsibilities also include maintaining charts and supplies, assisting visitors and staff, and ensuring a safe, orderly environment.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required.
• Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant and/or Huntsville Hospital Health Care Assistant course preferred.
• BCLS is required by the conclusion of orientation.
• Requires previous patient care and/or two years clerical experience with successful work history.
• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide vital signs, activities of daily living, transport, and transfer of patients including discharge.
• Assist staff, physicians, visitors and ancillary departments with routine patient care activities and clerical tasks.
• Maintain patient charts, unit files, secretarial supplies and a safe, orderly environment.
