Bucksport Regional Health Center in Bucksport, ME seeks an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to serve as the primary liaison for patients, ensuring affordability and HRSA compliance while managing the Sliding Fee Discount Program.

You will handle patient accounts receivable, payment plans, financial counseling, and statements, coordinating with the billing team to resolve discrepancies and improve self-pay collections.

Formación

• 1-3 years in medical billing, patient accounts, collections, or financial counseling.
• Proficiency with EMR/Practice Management software.
• Strong understanding of Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG) and HRSA compliance standards.
• Computer experience using Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to discuss finances empathetically.
• Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.

Responsabilidades

• Manage HRSA Sliding Fee Program eligibility and renewals.
• Set up and monitor patient payment plans; follow up on missed payments.
• Manage self-pay AR (30–90+ days), monitor aging, and coordinate with collections when needed.
• Provide compassionate financial counseling and help patients apply for Sliding Fee Discount Program.
• Review and process patient statements; investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare monthly collections file and coordinate with internal teams for accuracy.
• Answer billing calls, post payments, and generate reports.
