The University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT is seeking a dedicated coach to recruit, train, and guide the Women’s Lacrosse team in alignment with the university’s mission. The role focuses on supporting student-athletes to achieve academic, athletic, and social success while promoting integrity and program values.

The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of the lacrosse program, uphold NCAA/CACC rules, and lead initiatives that help student‑athletes reach their full potential on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; advanced degree not required.
• CPR/AED certification; coaching experience preferred.
• College playing and/or coaching experience is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Coaching and/or participation at collegiate level preferred; ability to teach lacrosse skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train and provide guidance to Women’s Cross Lacrosse team to promote academic, athletic and social success.
• Support program mission and goals within NCAA/CACC rules.
• Assist with all aspects of the women’s lacrosse program, including recruiting.
• Provide leadership in program implementation and daily activities.
• Ensure adherence to department and university policies and safety practices.

Position Description Summary/Purpose:

Recruits, trains and provides guidance to members of the Women’s Cross Lacrosse team in a manner which promotes the academic, athletic and social success of athletes and is consistent with the mission and goals of the University of Bridgeport Athletic Department.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

• Represent the University of Bridgeport and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality.
• Promote and support the University of Bridgeport and the
• Promote and support the University of Bridgeport Athletic Department’s program mission and goals.
• Assist with all aspects of the women’s lacrosse program; provides opportunities that challenge and support student-athletes to reach their full potential including recruiting.
• Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of the department and the University, as well as the rules and regulations of the NCAA, CACC, and any other authorities that affect the intercollegiate athletic program
• Provide leadership in implementation of the program.
• Perform duties as assigned by the Director Athletics
• Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.

Other Functions:

• Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
• Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
• Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

• Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering best practices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and build an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.
• Experience in the sport of women’s lacrosse.

QualificationsMinimum Required Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience:

The qualifications required would generally be acquired with or any equivalent combination of education, work experience and training.

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; advanced degree preferred;
• CPR/AED certification;
• College playing and/or coaching preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Coaching and /or participation at collegiate level preferred; demonstrated ability and passion to teach and demonstrate skills of lacrosse;
• Ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends;
• Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and meet University of Bridgeport’s Driving Requirements;
• Willingness to fundraise;
• Ability to interact with all levels of the university community.
