Job summary

The University of Bridgeport is seeking a dedicated coach for the Women’s Lacrosse program. The role involves recruiting, training and guiding student‑athletes to excel academically and athletically while upholding the university’s mission and values.

The position requires collegiate coaching experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends. The incumbent will also promote fundraising and compliance with NCAA and conference rules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • College playing and/or coaching preferred; coaching at the collegiate level ideal.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting University of Bridgeport requirements.
  • Willingness to fundraise.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the university community.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the University of Bridgeport and the Athletic Department with integrity.
  • Promote and support the University and its mission.
  • Support the women’s lacrosse program and recruitment efforts.
  • Provide leadership in program implementation.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with NCAA, conference rules and university policies.

Position Description Summary/Purpose

Recruits, trains and provides guidance to members of the Women’sCross Lacrosse team in a manner which promotes the academic,athletic and social success of athletes and is consistent with themission and goals of the University of Bridgeport AthleticDepartment.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities
  • Represent the University of Bridgeport and the AthleticDepartment in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity andquality.
  • Promote and support the University of Bridgeport and itsmission.
  • Promote and support the University of Bridgeport AthleticDepartment’s program mission and goals.
  • Assist with all aspects of the women’s lacrosse program;provides opportunities that challenge and support student-athletesto reach their full potential including recruiting.
  • Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of thedepartment and the University, as well as the rules and regulationsof the NCAA, CACC, and any other authorities that affect theintercollegiate athletic program
  • Provide leadership in implementation of the program.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Director Athletics
  • Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safetypractices are followed.
Other Functions
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or assituation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps currentwith trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a teameffort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering bestpractices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion,and build an environment in which all members of the Universitycommunity are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Experience in the sport of women’s lacrosse.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience :

The qualifications required would generally be acquired with or anyequivalent combination of education, work experience andtraining.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; advanced degreepreferred;
  • CPR/AED certification;
  • College playing and/or coaching preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Coaching and /or participation at collegiate level preferred;demonstrated ability and passion to teach and demonstrate skills oflacrosse;
  • Ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends;
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and meetUniversity of Bridgeport’s DrivingRequirements;
  • Willingness to fundraise;
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the universitycommunity.
