Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is hiring a Head Start Teacher to co-lead a classroom of 17–20 children ages 3–4. You will craft engaging, inclusive lessons and partner with families to support school readiness and development.

We seek candidates with a background in early childhood education, 2+ years of teaching, and a 90-hour certification. A collaborative, mission-driven team environment awaits with opportunities for growth and professional development.

Qualifications

• Two years of early childhood teaching experience.
• 90-Hour Child Care Certification required.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.
• Basic computer skills and internet navigation.
• Ability to complete background clearances and health screenings.

Responsibilities

• Co-lead a classroom of 17–20 children ages 3–4 in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Plan daily lessons and routines based on developmental needs.
• Assess progress, maintain attendance, and education files.
• Communicate regularly with families and service-area partners.
• Participate in IEP planning, referrals, and meetings as needed.
• Supervise Teacher Assistants and volunteers; maintain confidentiality.
• Attend trainings and model Y core values in practice.
