Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support the classroom in a safe and engaging learning environment for preschoolers. You will assist in lesson planning, supervise activities, and foster school readiness and social-emotional development across the program.

The position emphasizes family engagement, preparation of materials, and collaboration with staff to meet MRDC priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start Teacher in planning and implementing lesson plans.
• Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities.
• Observe and assess children’s development for individualized plans.
• Model positive social-emotional behaviors and problem-solving.
• Supervise and ensure a safe, nurturing environment.
• Prepare materials and maintain organized learning spaces.
• Support daily routines such as meals, naptime, and transitions.
• Follow health, safety, and licensing policies.
