Job summary

Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant for the Maple Center in Lompoc, CA. This full-time role starts with an hourly wage between $19.00 and $20.00, depending on Early Childhood Education units completed.

The position supports classroom teachers in delivering a high-quality early childhood program and requires a California CDP or higher and enrollment in a related credential program to be completed within two years of hire.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for a California Child Development Permit and enrolled in a CD A credential program to be completed within 2 years of hire.
• Experience in early childhood education and ability to assist in implementing curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Maintain 100% supervision of children when in teacher/child ratio.
• Use positive child guidance methods.
• Develop positive relationships with children and their families.
• Assist in meal preparation, mealtime and cleanup.
• Help with nap time, cleanliness and classroom organization.

Education

Child Development Permit (CDP) or higher

Child Development Associate credential program (2-year completion target)
