Job summary

Southern Oregon Head Start seeks a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support classroom teachers and nurture children in Grants Pass. The TA will assist with curriculum, supervise students, and help prepare materials and meals as needed.

Bilingual support is valued for dual language learners. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and CDA or enrollment in Oregon Registry Pathways; CPR/First Aid and Food Handler certifications are expected after hire.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA credential or Step 8 in Oregon Registry Pathways program required OR enrollment to complete within 2 years of hire.
• CPR/First Aid Certification, Food Handler Certification and TS Gold Inter-Rater Reliability Certification required (may be obtained after hire).
• Experience: One-year experience working with young children birth to 8 years; preschool age preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with children individually, in small and large groups; ensure safety and educational development.
• Assist classroom teacher with curriculum development and implementation; follow agency guidelines.
• Lead class in the teacher's absence; record observations for dual language learners as needed.
