Job summary

NeighborImpact is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support Head Start preschoolers in a nurturing classroom across Oregon sites (Prineville, Bend, La Pine). You’ll assist the lead teacher, help prepare indoor and outdoor activities, support meal distribution, and keep accurate written records to ensure health, nutrition, education, and safety standards are met.

This role requires child education credentials or enrollment in a relevant program, plus compliance with health, safety, and DHS

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree with 12 ECE credits or equivalent.
• CDA credential, equivalent to Step 7 on the Oregon Registry.
• Current enrollment in a program leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree in ECE or equivalent.
• CDA program enrollment to be completed within 2 years AND High school diploma or GED.
• Diploma and transcripts are required to validate degree and ECE coursework.
• Competency with Microsoft applications.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and attend to children on the floor.
• Must ride a school bus with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Start classroom teacher and Center Team in daily preschool activities.
• Prepare and facilitate indoor and outdoor activities and age-appropriate educational tasks.
• Assist with meal distribution and maintain accurate written records.
• Support integration of Head Start elements to promote health, nutrition, education, and safety.
