Job summary

Macomb County Government is seeking a Part-time Substitute Teacher Aide for the Head Start Program. Under supervision, you will adapt to class functions, assist in implementing all aspects of Head Start in the classroom, and help keep students safe.

You will support the teacher, help set up materials, maintain attendance and records, communicate with parents, travel between sites as needed, and participate in training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Previous experience with preschool-age children is preferred.
• Experience in Head Start programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fills vacant position of Teacher Aide temporarily and ensures the students are safe and their needs are met.
• Assists in implementing lesson plans and sets up materials for instruction.
• Maintains current documentation including attendance forms and program activities.
• Communicates with parents and maintains positive communication about Head Start.
• Operates an automobile to travel between classroom sites as needed.
