Job summary

Macomb County Government is seeking a part-time Substitute Teacher for the Head Start Program. The position supports class teachers, ensures child safety, and implements the Head Start curriculum across multiple sites within the county.

The role requires an associate’s degree in early childhood fields, with a preferred bachelor’s degree and Head Start experience. A valid Michigan driver’s license is required for site travel and program duties.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education or related field is preferred.
• Teaching experience in Early Childhood Education and Head Start program experience are preferred.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to travel between classroom sites.

Responsibilities

• Fills vacant Teacher position temporarily and ensures student safety and needs are met.
• Implements Positive Behavior Management techniques and maintains a constructive classroom environment.
• Develops lesson plans and prepares materials for instruction.
• Maintains program activity and attendance documentation.
• Communicates effectively with parents and school staff.
• Plans daily/weekly curricular activities using TS GOLD planning tools.
• Operates an automobile to travel between sites during shifts.
